Early Admission
Texas State's Early Admission Program offers local high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take college-level courses while still in high school. The program is designed for high ability students who meet or exceed the university's freshman assured admission requirements. A letter of recommendation from a high school counselor or principal is also required. All usual freshman priority dates apply. Before applying, students are encouraged to contact Anni Judkins, Senior Assistant Director, for more information and guidance.
Students admitted under this option are considered non-degree seeking and are not eligible for financial aid. After high school graduation, those students wishing to continue at Texas State in degree-seeking status must reapply and submit their final high school transcript.

Special Talent Program
Students who receive a Fine Arts or Athletic Scholarship and are recommended for admission by the Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication or the Director of Athletics, but do not meet Assured, Admission Review, or Individual Review admission requirements, may be granted admission to Texas State. Freshman students admitted under the Special Talent Program must rank in the top three quarters of their high school class. Transfer students must have a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA. The university president may authorize exceptions to this policy.

Texas State’s Annual Security Reports and Fire Safety Report
We value the safety of all members of the Texas State University community at our main campus in San Marcos, TX and separate campuses in Maxwell, TX (ALERRT Campus) and Round Rock, TX. Texas State publishes a combined Annual Security and Fire Safety Report that contains information regarding campus safety and security including topics such as: campus law enforcement authority; crime reporting policies; campus alerts (Timely Warnings and Emergency Notifications); fire safety policies and procedures; programs to prevent dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking; the procedures the University will follow when one of these crimes is reported; and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in on-campus student housing facilities; in noncampus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University or a recognized student organization; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also provides fire statistics for any fires occurring in an on-campus student housing facility during the three most recent calendar years. The Fire Safety Report section and on-campus student housing statistics do not apply to Round Rock or the ALERRT Center, as those campuses do not currently have any student housing facilities.
