What do you like best about San Marcos?

San Marcos is the best of both worlds. The city offers so many fun things, like concerts in the park, the Mermaid Parade, and new restaurants. It’s also helpful to be in between San Antonio and Austin. There’s always something new to explore. It’s also helpful since many employers from those cities often recruit our students for internships and jobs.

Why did you choose to become an admission counselor? 

As a Rio Grande Valley native, serving my community has always been important to me. Becoming an admission counselor would give me the tools to support students and their families with the application process and help them transition to Texas State University.

What advice do you have for future students?

Make the most of your time at Texas State! Prioritize your learning but take time to do things for yourself, like lounging at Sewell Park, participate in a campus organization or go tubing!
